FAQs
How do I know if I can really sing?
At the Inner Voice Studio we believe that everyone can sing. Just like any other skill we are all born and start at different levels. At your first lesson we will evaluate your strengths and areas for improvement, developing a plan that you feel comfortable with and that will help you improve at the pace you desire.
Can any level of singer benefit from lessons?
Yes! Whether you are just beginning or a seasoned pro - having someone to help you hone your craft and harness your opportunities for improvement is a key part of the artistry of voice. Phoebe Bridgers, Taylor Swift and even Sutton Foster have voice coaches! As a singer, it’s your job to focus on how your voice feels and conveying the emotion - an outside ear is always a helpful tool to woodshed problems and improve performance.
How much do I need to practice?
Consistency is key when it comes to practicing. You don’t need to sit for hours a day and sing in order to improve, however, what you put in is what you’ll get back. We recommend starting with an easy and doable routine and building from there. 20-30 minutes, 3x a week is a great place to start. Because we teach a sustainable vocal technique, you can practice however much you would like to! Always check in with how your body and voice feels - if you’re feeling great, sing away! Some of our students practice up to 2 hours a day and some getting better just by thinking about it or . It’s just about what works for YOU.
How long does it take to become a better singer?
A lot of our students report seeing improvements after just one lesson. There is always something to learn when it comes to vocal technique and as you add more tools to your toolbox, you’ll find that different aspects of your performance improve every time. If you’re consistent with lessons and practice big strides can be made in just a few months time.
What style of singing do you teach?
The Inner Voice Studio offers a range of teaching styles including Pop, Opera, Musical Theater, R&B, Folk and Country. We teach techniques that can be applied to all different styles of singing in a way that is healthy and sustainable. Whatever genre you’re interested in, we’ve got you covered.
Are there any options besides one-on-one lessons?
In an effort to help as many singers as we can, we are working to create online group lessons for small groups of singers at a more cost-effective rate. Stay tuned for more announcements as we build this program! Singers, we’ve got your backs!
